I just called the automated system again a few minutes ago and got through the system farther than usual, only to be told that there's already a freeze on the account and to "please enter your 10 digit PIN." I am absolutely certain that I haven't been given/created a PIN for Equifax. I did once get as far as entering part of my credit card information before being told the system was unavailable, but I never got confirmation that a freeze was placed on my account, I never entered or received a PIN. I had no issues with either Experian's or TransUnion's automated systems, but I've called Equifax's several times, and I was always met with "we're sorry, our automated system is unavailable, please call again later." Sometimes I would get the message immediately, sometimes I would get a few steps into the process, then it would give me the message. Knowing that Equifax has handled my personal information for years, I've been trying to put a freeze on all three reporting agencies reports.
